Returns and Exchange policy

1. Made-to-Order Products

At Albany Leather, all items are made to order according to the size, specifications and finish selected by the customer at the time of purchase.

Each order is prepared specifically for the individual customer. Customers are responsible for carefully reviewing their selected size, finish, product specifications and order details before completing their purchase.

As our products are made to the customer's specifications, we do not accept returns or offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind, incorrect size ordered, or a change in personal preference, except where required under the Australian Consumer Law.

2. Change of Mind and Incorrect Size

Albany Leather does not offer returns, refunds or exchanges where a customer:

  • Changes their mind after placing an order.

  • Selects the wrong size or dimensions when ordering.

  • Orders a product that does not fit their intended application due to incorrect measurements or size selection provided by the customer.

  • Changes their mind about the colour, finish, style or other specifications selected at checkout.

  • No longer requires the product after the order has been placed.

Please carefully check all measurements, size options, finishes and product details before placing your order.

This policy does not apply where a product is defective, does not match its description or agreed specifications, or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law.

3. Defective or Faulty Products

We take pride in the quality of our products. If you receive an item that is defective, faulty, damaged on arrival, incorrectly manufactured, or materially different from the product description or specifications agreed at the time of purchase, please contact us so that we can assess the issue and provide an appropriate remedy.

To report a problem, please contact Albany Leather with:

  • Your order number or proof of purchase.

  • A description of the issue.

  • Clear photographs showing the defect or discrepancy, where reasonably possible.

Please contact us as soon as reasonably practicable after discovering the issue. However, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not limited to a fixed reporting period under this policy.

We will assess the issue in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law and applicable consumer guarantees.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the problem, the available remedy may include repair, replacement, refund or other compensation as required by law.

For a major failure, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement. For a minor failure, we may be entitled to remedy the problem within a reasonable time. If a minor failure cannot be remedied within a reasonable time, you may have further rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

We will not refuse a remedy solely because an item was made to order.

4. Return Process for Defective Products

Please contact us before sending a product back so that we can provide return instructions.

Where a product is confirmed to have a problem covered by the Australian Consumer Law, Albany Leather will arrange or reimburse reasonable return costs as required by law. If the product cannot reasonably be returned because of its size, nature or removal costs, we will make appropriate arrangements in accordance with our legal obligations.

Please retain your proof of purchase and any receipts for reasonable return or transport costs.

We may request an opportunity to inspect the product or obtain further information to assess the reported issue. Any assessment will be conducted consistently with your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

5. Incorrect Orders and Manufacturing Errors

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the size, dimensions, finish and other specifications entered or selected at checkout are correct.

However, if Albany Leather manufactures or supplies an item that differs from the specifications confirmed in your order, or if an error on our part results in the wrong product being supplied, please contact us. We will investigate and provide an appropriate remedy where required under the Australian Consumer Law.

A product made to the customer's confirmed specifications is not considered defective solely because the customer selected an unsuitable size or finish.

6. Natural Characteristics of Leather

Leather is a natural material, and individual hides may vary in grain, texture, markings, colour and appearance. Minor natural variations may be inherent to genuine leather and are not necessarily defects.

However, this does not exclude your rights under the Australian Consumer Law if a product has a genuine defect, fails to meet the description or representations made about it, or otherwise fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee.

7. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer rights or guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

The benefits provided by this policy are in addition to any rights and remedies available to you under applicable law.
